A habit can be developed if we do something for a long time. For doing something consistently, we need to assure the following: either we love doing that OR the perks of doing that should keep us going. Well, I am not sure I can make you love The Economic Times (ET), but I surely can tell you some of its perks which may get you interested in reading it.
Before I started the ET, I used to wonder, out of so many streams why is economics given such a privilege. Well, economics is about choice and the impact of our choices on each other. It relates to every aspect of our lives, from the decisions we make as individuals or families, to the structures created by governments and firms. The economic way of thinking can help us make better choices.
ET provides an insight to all the happenings related to politics and business around us. In addition to that it also tell us about the ongoing developments in foreign market. The changes in fiscal and monetary policy, the dynamic movement in stock market, the impact of any budget, views of experts…all matters involving money can be tracked easily with just the simple habit of reading ET.
The editorial section enlightens us about issues of conflicting and contrasting views. This helps us in approaching things in a broader and better way. This daily supplement in knowledge is quite important. “Knowledge has to be improved, challenged, and increased constantly, or it vanishes". -Peter Drucker. One good thing that develops in this due course is “the habit of reading”.
One of the most prominent reasons for not reading ET is the phobia from jargon or the belief in the notion that we won’t be able to comprehend the articles. But as they say, the best way to come out of a problem is, to face it. Not today, or tomorrow, but gradually we will improve. Quoting of an example; we crawl, toddle, stand and then only, walk. Hence to learn about the financial terms that we daily come across, reading ET is one of the best method.
